A peek inside a Catechesis of the Good Shepherd atrium

To help everyone become more familiar with the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, thought I would occasionally share links to atria at other churches or even sometimes an atrium environment set up by a homeschooler for her children.  Not all of these links will be to Catholic atria, but the setup is usually similar regardless of religious denomination.

Here's an atrium from the blog Discovery Moments.

Enjoy!

Happy Good Shepherd Sunday!

Thought I would share this link from the National Association of the Good Shepherd.  It includes a photo by a child that really touches me.  Notice how the Jesus/the Good Shepherd stands inside a heart?  In the atrium, the children hear the story of the Good Shepherd, but they are never told who the Good Shepherd or the sheep are.  Yet the Holy Spirit works within them, and when they make the connection, a look of total joy comes over their face.  It is a beautiful thing!

Here's the child's drawing:

Here's the link to the entire card sent out to catechists from the national association.

Brief Parent Introduction to Program this Sunday, April 19, 2015!

Don't forget that the children's musical program for the parents is this Sunday after the 9:30 a.m. Mass in the PAR.  While you're there, stop by the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd table and pick up a flyer about the program, check out some of the materials that your children will be using next year, and learn about our upcoming parent discussion group!  Looking forward to meeting all of you this Sunday!

The Characteristics of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Program

Looking for more information about the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program that we are implementing this Fall (2015) at St. Joan of Arc Parish in Lisle, IL?  Here's a great article that describes the principle concepts behind the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program.  It also shows how the program is different from traditional catechism programs:

Introducing a new blog for a new program!

Hello!

This blog was created to share information about the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS), a "hands-on" faith formation program which will be implemented at St. Joan of Arc Parish (Lisle, IL) in the Fall of 2015. Throughout the summer months, we will use this blog to share information about the program.  Then, once the program begins in September, we'll use this blog to give parents an "inside view" of the childrens' work while attending the CGS sessions each week.
