Be a part of the new Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program at St. Joan of Arc!

As you know from earlier posts in this blog, we are implementing a new Sunday School program at St. Joan of Arc this fall called the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS).

CGS is an authentic Catholic faith formation program developed in Rome by a Catholic Biblical Scholar.  It emphasizes hands-on, child-directed learning and Montessori methods to help each child develop a deeply personal relationship with Jesus. Children use a variety of specially handmade materials to help them grow in their understanding of God.  Here at St. Joan of Arc, we will be offering the program to 3-6 year old children during the 9:30 a.m. Mass on Sundays beginning September 13.

Would you like to get involved with this exciting endeavor?  We are looking for:

1) 2-3 adults to serve as catechists and help out the head catechist (no experience needed). Can’t commit every week?  We are looking for substitute catechists too.

2) 2-3 junior high or high school students to help out during the sessions.

3) People who have a talent in woodworking, sewing, painting, model making, calligraphy or other crafts to help us create the handmade materials that the children use in the program.

Thank you for your generous consideration of this opportunity!
